A Professor in the UNC's Department of Nutrition, Dr. Campbell develops and evaluates intervention strategies designed to reduce the risk of cancer in minority and underserved populations. These communication-based prevention strategies have employed computer-tailored health education materials, social network/lay health advisor programs, and organizational-and community-level programs and messages. Her projects have been developed and implemented in settings such as churches, worksites, food assistance programs, and primary care offices. Dr. Campbell is Principal or Co-Principal Investigator of several major cancer and chronic disease prevention grants, including the WATCH (Wellness for African Americans Through Churches) Project, Health Works in the Community, and Black Churches United for Better Health |
